Quotes from Britain’s First Female Prime Minister

Margaret Hilda Thatcher was born in Grantham in Lincolnshire, England on October 13, 1925. She is a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She is the first and to date only woman to hold either post. She is also the oldest living British Prime minister.

The following are some of her noted inspirational quotes:

  • "What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose."
  • "Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do and you've done it."
  • "I do not know anyone who has got to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but should get you pretty near."
  • "Plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan."
  • "Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction."

"Plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan."
